Now the bathroom is basically finished - probably in April I'll get a bathtub. I almost gave up - everything was so slow, partly due to the fact that something was missing or broke all the time. When I wanted to drill holes for knobs, the drill gave up...but managed to find a better one and finish it on Friday. I've learnt a lot about renovation, but I hope I won't have to use that knowledge for a very, very long time.....

You are a Superwoman! A hero for sure to your D. My mother has always been my hero in life. She raised four kids by herself. At the time of her divorce I was the eldest at 7 and the youngest at 2. She worked and attended business college as well as maintaining the home. I learned a lot from her. I became man of the house at age 11.
Love the picture of the drill and bent bit ;-) What were you drilling? Ironwood? ;-)
People say that life doesn't deal you more than you can handle, but some people seem to get lots that really squeeze everything out of them. And then there are superpeople of course. I think parents in general are superpeople, I never realized how consuming (and rewarding as well) it is to have a child. Can't imagine how people manage with more than one - and alone!! Your mother sounds like a very tough woman!
I was going to drill a hole in a door to the cupboard in the bathroom :(.
